Born in Dundee in Scotland in 1958 .

Discovered his passion for Violin Making in 1980.

Studied under Miranda Green, Malcolm Siddal and Terry McCool at the Welsh School of Violin Making in 1980, graduating with a Diploma of Merit in 1983.

2 years of self-employment in Cardiff followed by 6 years in Edinburgh repairing and restoring Double Basses (including a variety of repair work on violins, cellos and basses for local violin maker Gordon Stevenson). Moved to Germany in 1991 to work for Tobias Festl in his World of Basses shop in Reutlingen.

In 2011, after 20 years working at World of Basses, decided to leave the company and become full-time self-employed, allowing more time to dedicate himself to the making of Double Basses. Continues to restore and repair as much as possible.

With a vast experience covering over 25 years specialising in the Double Bass.

"I've never really stopped learning...and I'm always looking for new ways to develop my skills and knowledge. I've met so many interesting Bass players and makers over the years that it's just impossible to keep still!"

Currently working on two 4-String Solo models and one 5-string model which should be finished sometime in 2012.
